Within its initiatives related to the chairmanship of OSCE for 2009, the Greek Foreign Ministry organized an official ceremony honouring the Greek Holocaust survivors. The event was held in Athens, on June 17, 2009, and it coincided with the edition of the book “Greeks in Auschwitz – Birkenau”, sponsored by the Foreign Ministry and written by Photini Tomai, Head of the Historic and Diplomatic Archive of the Foreign Ministry. |

| DESECRATION OF THE JEWISH CEMETERY OF IOANNINA |
The Jewish Cemetery of Ioannina was subject to one more vandal attack, the third since January 2009. On June 2, 2009, extremists brutally vandalized six tombs –among which that of the mother of the President of the local Jewish Community- destroyed part of the Holocaust Monument, situated in the cemetery, and daubed it with the blood of a turtle which had previously killed.
The President of the Jewish Community of Ioannina, Dr. Moses Elisaf, medicine professor at the local university as well as town councilor, urged local authorities to take measures for the arrest of the perpetrators and called upon his fellow-citizens to condemn these violent anti-Semitic attacks. |

The AIPAC Policy Conference is the pro-Israel community's preminent annual gathering. The event attracts more than 6000 community and student activists from all 50 states, more than half of the Senate, a third of the House of Representatives and countless Israeli and American policymakers and thought leaders.
